TOUR FAQs

When should I arrive for the trip?

Check-in time is 30 minutes prior to your scheduled boat departure time. Please arrive early to ensure that you do not miss the boat. If you are driving yourself, please plan for additional time to find and pay for parking so that you can be at the boat and ready to board 30 minutes prior to your tour departure time. Out of respect for our guests we attempt to leave on time. Refunds unfortunately cannot be processed for guests who are late and miss the boat.

Where do I park?

There is a parking lot at the harbor right next to our boat. Parking is $2 per hour. During peak times such as weekends and holidays it can be difficult to find parking. Please allow additional time to find parking or consider taking a taxi/rideshare service.

What should we bring?

Please bring a towel (if you are on a snorkeling trip), sunscreen, hat and sunglasses. In an attempt to conserve plastic, if you have your own water bottle please bring it. Ice water is provided free of charge onboard. We suggest wearing your swimming clothes to the trip if you plan to get in the water. All snorkeling equipment will be provided but if you already have your own you are welcome to bring it along.

How long is the trip?

Our turtle snorkeling trip is a 2-hour tour with approximately 1 hour of in-water snorkeling time. Our sunset cruises are 90 minutes, and our Deluxe Snorkel and Wildlife Cruise is 2.5 Hours.

Can I participate even though I do not know how to swim?

We do our best to accommodate guests with all levels of swimming ability but we cannot guarantee that you will be able to get the full experience of our tour if you are unable to swim. This tour does offer a snorkel school and floatation vests to help all guests to be comfortable in the water but it will be up to you to determine if it is something you are able to do or not. Our team will be there to assist you every step of the way and you can still view the turtles and many reef fish from the boat if you are unable to get comfortable in the water.

What is the minimum age for this tour?

The minimum age for all of our tours is 3 years old.

Do you provide us with life jackets?

Yes we have lifejackets and snorkel vests on all of our tours.

Do you provide alcohol?

The BYOB sunset cruise is our only BYOB Tours. Glass bottles are not permitted on this tour, so please bring canned beverages. We do not permit alcoholic beverages on our Turtle Canyons Snorkel Excursion, and all other tours are operated on our vessel “Lokahi” which has a cash bar (no BYOB).

Can my kids come by themselves?

Any child under the age of 18 is required to be accompanied by a paid adult on any of our tours. All children under the age of 18 must have a guardian complete their liability waiver. Our waivers can be completed online so this can be done ahead of time and remotely.

Can I bring a camera? Can I bring a drone? Can I bring a Go Pro?

Yes you can bring a camera or go pro and we highly encourage it. We do not allow drones on our tours.

Do you rent cameras?

No, we do not offer cameras for rent.

Do you have prescription masks? Can I wear glasses? Can I wear contacts?

Yes we do have prescription masks. They are available for rent at the boat for $10. You cannot wear glasses with your snorkel mask. You can wear contacts. We suggest wearing disposable contacts if possible.

Can I go if I'm pregnant?

We do not recommend our tours for pregnant women. This is mostly due to the delayed access to health care as well as motion sickness and risk of slip and fall. If you have an emergency there will be a significant delay before you are able to access emergency services and get to a hospital. While we want to inform you of the potential risks involved in participating, ultimately the decision will be left to you and your physician.

Can I wear a full face mask?

We do not offer full face masks and for your safety we do not allow them to be worn on our tours. Research has shown that there in an increased risk of losing consciousness with a full face mask as it may not allow for enough air exchange to keep your body oxygenated while exercising (snorkeling is exercise!). You may even note that some of these masks come with a warning not to exert yourself while using it. It has been our experience that guests have a better time when using our traditional style snorkeling masks.
